JANET'S TIPS OF THE TRADE
Basic tips can help take your photos to the next level. Using a variety of different styles, composition and design elements, I will address a different subject each week and give you an idea and assignment to help you practice and exercise your creative eye.
The first thing to consider is the format of your camera. Most film cameras have a 35mm format. What you see in the viewfinder fits on 5x7, 8x12, and 10x15 paper without too much cropping. Digital cameras have a different format. A full frame image will fit into a 9x12 format. If you want the image to be printed in a more standard photo size, leave a little more room around your subject. If in doubt, make a test print and compare it to your original digital image. Make a mental note of what you lose. Compose your photo correctly in the camera, take control of your composition and save a lot of time later.
Go out and shoot this weekend- pay attention to how your subject is framed in the viewfinder or LCD screen. Would the image fit nicely on a 4x6 print? an 8x10? or would it need to be printed as a 9x12? Have fun! Janet

Atheism is a non-prophet organization.
Two hats were hanging on a hat rack in the hallway. One hat said to the other, 'You stay here, I'll go on a head.'
