GOT FILM?
Traditional photography is alive and well in the educational system. It is driven by students interested in photography but who grew up with digital imaging being the norm rather than the exception. While digital imaging is a neccessary discipline to master, students seem to be migrating to traditional film at a high rate. Plus, Hasselblads are so cheap that college students routinely have one. Administrators keep trying to deemphasize traditional processes and students keep filling up every photography class offered. Go figure.

PHOTO INSTRUCTORS
Film Cameras: We did not do a good job last year in providing 35mm film SLR cameras for college and high school students. We will do better this year. We not only finally received a shipment of Nikon FM-10s (although somewhat higher priced) but we now have a reliable source for Vivitar V3800N SLR's. We also purchased a limited number of older, used cameras which will be affordably priced. We think they will operate reliably but if they don't, we will issue a full refund. We recommend the Vivitar because it is well made, especially for the price of $189.95 with 50mm lens. It has a true match needle metering system which is almost a mandatory feature for a real understanding of photography. If anyone has a suitable camera they would like to sell to a student, reply with the information so that we can find you a buyer.

Photo Kits: The first round of Photo Kits are posted on the "Student" page of the web site. Orders can be placed online, by email, by fax, by phone or by coming to the store. We maintain class supply lists, or will post it on our site, for all instructors even if we do not package their supplies in kit form. During "back to school" the staff routinely fields requests such as "whatever kind of paper they used in Birmingham last year". The more information we have, the better we can help the students. For photo kit information, go to http://www.camerasbrookwood.com/StudentPage/StudentPage.html
