NEW PRODUCTS
Delkin Archival Gold CD-R's have been tested to safely store images for up to 300 years. A key component of these discs are the use of 24 karat gold as the reflective layer; this is 30% of the disc's production cost. Gold, which is very inert, reflective and expensive, is resistive to the effects of humidity and temperature thereby preventing oxidation. Oxidation is the common cause of failure for most discs. The Delkin Archival discs also have "Scratch Armor" scratch resistant coating which protects the media better than uncoated media. The less expensive the disc, generally the shorter the life expectancy. Non archival discs generally last five to fifteen years. We also stock DVD-R's which have a life expectancy of 100 years. Both CD's and DVD's can be purchased individually.
DEL016 25 52x/700mb/80min/300yr CD-R $47.00
DEL017 25 8x/4.7gb/2hr/100yr DVD-R $78.00

DID YOU KNOW...
Kodak announced that production of Kodachrome film has ceased. Kodachrome will continue to be supplied until current stock is depleted. The last Kodachrome processing lab, Dwaynes Photo in Parsons, Kansas, plans to process Kodachrome through 2010. Kodachrome has continually provided the ultimate quality in transparency film since its introduction in 1935. Iconic Kodachrome images can be seen on Kodak's web site. http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professional/cpq/features/featuresIndexUS.jhtml?pq-path=522

There are no E6 processing labs for chrome films in the Birmingham area. We send E6 to a partner lab, Flair Labs, in Gainesville, Florida on Monday afternoons. Turnaround time is 7 to 10 days. We continue to look for better solutions, but this is the best cost/benefit service that we can currently offer.

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT
The Hahnemuhle FineArt paper mill has been producing quality mould-made papers for more than 425 years for art, printing and technical applications. In 1997, they developed a line of digital fine art papers specifically designed for inkjet printers. The Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308gsm and William Turner 310gsm are staple papers for most of our fine art print customers. We stock these and several other surfaces in the standard paper sizes. Their first environmental paper, Bamboo 290, is especially suitable for warm-toned color and monochrome fine art photographs. To quote Hahnemuhle, "The world's first ... paper made from bamboo fibers combines spiritual photography with environmental friendliness. It guarantees an extremely large color gamut and a high color density for high contrast art prints with three-dimensional image depth. The fine, soft haptic also lends a tangible fourth dimension to the fine art pictures. Bamboo 290 stands for spirituality, naturalness and resource-saving paper production." Hahnemuhle FineArt "The Art of Expression Since 1584"

We also stock their Lumijet "Image Shield". This is the best protective spray we have found for sealing inkjet prints. The fast drying spray seals the surface without affecting the surface appearance. It also protects against UV rays and fingerprints. HAH047 $36 for two 14 ounce cans.
